Save the date!

For the past few weeks, I have been quietly painting the nights away.
I have one painting left to finish and a few drawings I'd like to do
Before my art show (which is November 11th by the way!)
Is it realistic? maybe. I hope so.

I finished making the flyer today, now all I have to do is print them.

Secondhand Haunts

I collect frames. I think I've said that before?
I collect frames and paint pictures, and put my art work in them.
Sometimes, while hunting for frames, I come across a mirror
I just can pass up. These are a few small ones i have creeping up
my wall lately.

From top (counter clockwise)
1. Italian gold mirror $6.00 from Ron's? I feel so embarrassed...
I don't know the name of his shop! oops, I'll have to find that out.
I just have to say, that Ron (the shop owner) is the greatest.
He knows everything about every single one of his antiques.

2. Black iron mirror $1.50 from Council Thrift Shop

3. Brown beaded mirror $5? (I cant remember) from

4. see this.

Give a vote

There is this fantastic program Glee and NAfME set up called "give a note"
They are giving money to fund at risk music programs in
public schools. I never was in any kind of music program in school,
but took any art elective I could fit into my schedule. The arts are always the first
to go when that nasty budget cut monster comes to town. bleh.

José edited this video for a school our friend teaches at.
If you have a second, they could really use your vote.

p.s. If you end up watching the video, my favorite line is,
" I've always dreamed of being an actor and going on to Broadway.
Singing in the rain is my favorite musical, what did you expect?"
haha. classic.

October WIP

This "dead layer" technique has become a staple in my process.
I really enjoy it because I don't have to think
about mixing colors and all the questions and concerns that go along
with brining color into the mix. I think color is one of my strong points,
and color is my favorite part of painting,
but there's just something so relaxing and uncomplicated about
not having to deal with it. Do you know what I mean?

Killsonic will be performing at the closing reception
of Tim Brurton's exhibit at LACMA!!! I'm beyond excited.

for this special event. Tim Burton will be there people!

LACMA said,

Dead Man's Ball featuring a night full of art, music, dancing, and the
crowd favorite—the annual costume contest. Dress up in your funerary best,
and catch Tim Burton during its closing weekend,
performances by Killsonic, Jeremiah Red, and Sneaky Nietzsche,
and environments created by Sypher Art Studios. Find more details here"

This is us (Killsonic) playing one of our newer songs
at the Eagle Rock Music Festival.

And this is a majority of us at the after party
for the Trespass parade we played on Oct. 2nd.
They made a video that was projected on the walls of Union Station,
I can't seem to get ahold of it :/

Fun Fact #349 all the ladies in the band played in heels.

Birthday Cards

My mom has been asking me to make her cards (for friends and family)
for as long as I can remember. A few weeks ago she asked me to
make one for my Uncle Greg. I spend very little time
painting them (most are made in under five minutes), and they
are always painted in watercolor (because of the drying time).
My Uncle Greg loves bikes/biking and my fondest memories
are of him gearing up for a ride in florescent striped
spandex bike shorts. I really love how this card came out.
Happy Birthday Greg :)

p.s. I think this card took me about 10-20 minutes
