Secondhand Haunts

I found this little elephant pocket mirror
at the council thrift shop on Sherman Way.
I'm not exactly sure how much it cost
because the lady gave me
the mirror, a waffle iron, and a scarecrow knife
all for $5.00

I also attended a baby shower in the pouring rain
on saturday for the sweetest girl in the world, Suda.
I got her a gift card to target,
a infant's silk dress,
"Mr. Brown can moo, can you?" by Dr. suess
(thick cardboard baby-proof edition)
and a toddler size white vintage sweater made in Itay.

This is my Faaantastic gift wrapping job.
It cost me $0.00 ;)

Although I'm not finished with the painting for February's giveaway
I plan on posting the entry question tomorrow.

a peek into our radio experience

Last month, Dulce de Leche danced through
the air waves of the radio kind.
José put together this video from footage Esau shot.

If you'd like to listen to the whole performance
(minus the interview)

.........
and
For those of you aimlessly wandering around
the streets of Los Angeles friday
Killsonic will be performing at secret locations
throughout the night.
We're meeting at Union Station at 8pm.
Which really means 9.
come join us :)

under the good layers

Every painting I make has at least three layers.
this is a progress shot
of this months painting.
The background wash.
The layer that guides the colors I choose.

creature of the heart

This is a creature I created
inspired by the heart shape.

I've recently been into drawing with colored pencil.
There's something magical about the end result.
It makes me feel like a Disney illustrator.

I'm going to paint this guy eventually.
It will go into that big black frame from last
Sunday's secondhand haunts.

I finally got a quality scan from my moleskine.
So I plan on posting a sketch a week.

speaking of sketches,
Here is a much better image of my
February giveaway sketch.

Happy Valentines day :)

Secondhand Haunts

This secondhand haunt was actually a gift
from my good friends Jorge and Vanessa.
They found the horse at a garage sale.

I love this wooden sculpture because
the drawing style in the eyes
reminds me of Dr. Seuss!

The string of pink lantern lights cost me $2.99 at Goodwill

While José took the last photo
I had to hold our pooches.
Boo. and Bean.

February giveaway sketch peek

I've finally finished the sketch for this months giveaway.
It took quite a bit of time because I'm not used
to drawing things in a different perspective.
But that's one of my secret goals hiding
in the shadows of these giveaways.
I'm going to start painting tonight :)

Secondhand Haunts

When I was little, I was fascinated by bugs.
I collected them, and made them little homes in glass jars.
Now, I collect frames, and create creatures to inhabit them.

Sometimes the frames I find are in poor condition
(because they are always secondhand).
So, I spray paint them.

I found the large frame at goodwill for $5.99
and the three smaller ones for $2.99

I know what's going in each of these frames,
I just have to find the time to fill them :)

Bloglovin

Bloglovin is a great way to manage the blogs you follow.
especially If (like me) you forget
the titles when you discover new blogs.
I'm hoping to finish the feb. giveaway drawing tomorrow.
Then start painting next week.

Here are a couple of lost photos of Dulce de Leche
(All photo's by Esau Rosales)
