Secondhand Haunts

I've been wanting a new couch for quite a while.
This past saturday, I took my friend Erica around Sherman Way
(She's from Highland Park and has journeyed to the valley only once)
for some good old fashioned "Junking"
The first stop on our list was a yearly
rummage sale put on by the most adorable old ladies
of the Canoga Park Women Center.
They had the couch listed for $35
but I haggled it down to $25!
so So so happy :)

And as an extra special bonus,
The last hour of the event,
when I went to pick up my new (to me) couch,
They we're handing out plastic bags and
whatever you could fit in that bag was yours. for $1.
(see you next year ladies!!!)

In other news...

Thursday was super fun.
The people at the Crawford Family Forum were fantastic.
Especially the sound team.
It was the first time I got to use three mics!
It was also great to see our old friends Sister Rogers,
And our new ones, Sunshine Factory.
Both gave stunning performances.

I have yet to see any photographs from that night,
but heres a few from our camera

surrounded by mountain tops

Just got back from playing on the radio
with dulce de leche
for the second time this year!!!

This week has been extra crazy
and I had an elaborate plan to make something special
announcing our gig tomorrow night,
but...things happen.

This is the flyer for the show.
It's pretty wonderful.

January giveaway preview

My goal was to have my giveaway finished by today...
the the harsh bite of cold whether was no friend to my oil paint.
So, I've been set back a few days
I'm about 80% done.
It just needs one more layer of paint.
I've also decided to giveaway a framed print of this piece
and try and sell the original.
But the giveaway will have handmade elements involved.

radio radio radio

Next week, Dulce de Leche is going to play a live set on
KPFK's "my side of the city" with Steve Martin.
The whole thing will be documented, so I'll be sure to share
some photos, and maybe a little video. maybe.
Those darn things just take forever to load.

If you miss the show, you can always listen online :)

Sister Rogers plays tomorrow.
take a listen if you'd like to be swept up
by a smooth bossa breeze
and hugged by a warm blanket of
delicate portuguese whispers.

Secondhand Haunts

I gave these woodcuts to Jose as one of his Christmas presents.
I found them on Sherman Way for $3.00 a piece.
I can't wait to use them :)

And as  for my giveaways this year, I've decided to
do something special. I'm going to paint/draw
a (human) character for each month.
So somebody might end up with an entire collection
by the end of the year!

I'm hoping to finish January's by the end of next week.
Here's a sneak peek

all will come framed.
This one is in oil.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!
